A Gloucester Rangers Legacy Gone Too Soon

The Gloucester Rangers Minor Hockey Association is heartbroken to learn of the sudden passing of Shawn Simpson, a former member of our Rangers family.

Shawn’s journey in hockey began right here in Gloucester, where he donned the Rangers jersey as a young goaltender with big dreams. His talent and dedication propelled him into the professional ranks, including a career in the NHL as a player and a front-office executive. Beyond the ice, he became a beloved voice in hockey, bringing insight and passion to the game through his work in sports media.

For those who had the privilege of knowing Shawn, he was more than just a skilled athlete and broadcaster—he was a genuine and kind-hearted person who never forgot where he came from. He remained a proud advocate for grassroots hockey, inspiring the next generation of players with his love for the sport.

Shawn’s passing is a tremendous loss to the hockey community, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. The Gloucester Rangers extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Shawn. You will always be part of our hockey family.
