Peewee AA Rangers Runner Up in Sarnia

The Peewee AA Ranger team opened their season in Sarnia Sept 14-16 at the Lambton Jr Sting Golden Blade AAA tournament.
The team opened the tournament with an exciting and gritty come from behind win over the Huron Perth Lakers. The Rangers entered the 3rd period down 3-2 but notched 4 goals to take the win 6-4. In their second game of the day they upset tournament favorites, Lambton Jr. Sting, 5-1 in a game that was dominated by speed and a persistent attack.
Playing on the confidence of a 2-0 opening day the Rangers started off day two with a huge win over the Chatham Kent Cyclones to move into 1st place and take firm hold of a playoff spot. The final game of the round robin saw the team drop a heartbreaking 3-2 lose to the Brantford 99ers...a game that was tied for most of the 2nd and 3rd periods.
Despite the loss, spirits were high and the team had claimed a place in the championship final. But the final proved to be a tough contest as they faced Brantford for the second day in a row and what proved to be a much more aggressive and determined Brantford team. The final score was 4-1 but the team took great solice in their ability to reach the final of their first AAA tournament of the season after only 3 practices.
