Back-to-Back Shut Outs Mark Impressive End to Weekend

The Major Peewee AA team returned from the Humberview Huskies AA/AAA Invitational with a new found confidence and committment to high tempo offence and defencive team play.
After opening the tournament with a 3-1 loss to the host Huskies the Rangers ran off a string of three straight wins allowing only 3 goals in that three game span.
After opening their season with two disappointing losses, and experiencing difficulty finishing around the net, the Rangers opened the tournament with their third straight loss, a 3-1 heartbreaker to the host Humberview Huskies.  The scoring drought came to an end quickly in game two against Chatham with the team connecting on six goals and building some much needed confidence.
When day two started the team was facing two must win games, and given the tie breaking formula and inevitable fact that multiple teams would finish with 3-1 records, the coaching staff and players knew that at least one shut out would be needed...if not two.
Accepting the challenge, and knowing anything less would guarantee elimination, the Rangers proceeded to hand the Etobicoke Canucks their 3rd loss of the tournament...5-0. With the first win now in place, and the first shut out, the boys prepared for their final round robin game.
In perhaps their finest display of complete hockey to date the Vaughan Panthers fell 4-0, securing the much needed third win and a critical second shut out. The team had done everything they could do to give themselves a chance to move on to the final.
In the end it was not meant to be. With a goal average of 0.727 they finished 3rd to the Kanata Blazers, with a goal average of 0.850...oh so close.

The team now sets it sights on their third tournament, the Syracuse Stars Tim Connolly AAA Invitational.  The team is working very hard and the players are developing very nicely while adapting to their new teammates, coaches and standards.  There is a positive feeling amongst the players and staff that they are getting better with each game.
