Minor Bantam AA Win Silver Stick
SUDBURY - It looked like the Gloucester Minor Bantam AA team's tournament
success was coming to an end..
With the Rangers going one win and one loss in our pool, it appeared to be a
quick return to Ottawa. However, the boys staged a furious rally and with a big
win (13-1) over the Copper Cliff Redmen in their third game along with some
help in the other pools, they snuck in through the backdoor for the wildcard.
"We hung around, you know. The hockey gods answered our prayers and, I don't
know how to describe it." It was an incredible turnaround for the boys, who
appeared down and out with a record of 2-1 with only three games guaranteed.
The semi final had us playing the Mississauga Jets who ranked first overall.
With the score 4-1, the boys were off to their third finals in as many
tournaments. The finals had the Rangers playing against North Bay. This team
defeated the Aurora Tigers who gave the Rangers their only loss in the
tournament. Our boys jumped into a 4-0 lead and cruised to a 6-0 victory as
they scored two more in the third period.
And so the Gloucester Rangers continue with their tournament success and are
now a perfect three for three. Congratulations to a well deserved Rangers
win!!! The team will now travel to Montreal in January for a huge tournament
with a chance to play seven games against Québec and US teams. Happy New Year
from all the Minor Bantam players and parents.
