Update on 'AAA' Hockey
The concept of creating a AAA league in the ODMHA has seen the creation of a
proposal that has now been reviewed by the ODMHA and its member Districts. The
ODMHA Executive and Minor Council approved the 3 year pilot proposal to
commence play next season. A number of documents and specifics around the
proposal have been posted on the ODMHA
website
for your review.
The Gloucester Rangers urge you
to read the proposal and educate yourself on what has been put forward, as it
will change the competitive hockey landscape for the players. As information is
made available to us, we will post updates on this website.
Ranger Alumni Michael Blunden Makes His NHL Debut
Michael Blunden, former Gloucester Ranger, made his National Hockey League debut
for the Chicago Blackhawks on October 25th vs the Vancouver Canucks, and was in
uniform again on October 28th against Anaheim.
Michael started the 2006/07 campaign as a member of the Norfolk Admirals (the
Blackhawks AHL affiliate) and joins Adrian Aucoin as Ranger alumni who have
played in the NHL. Check out Michael's profile on the Blackhawks website.
New Standards of Play
Hockey Canada is encouraging all players, parents and coaches to familiarize
themselves with the new standards of play beginning in 2006/07. Please take a
few moments to review some of the
highlights of these new standards.
Bulletin to all Rangers Players and Parents
On behalf of the Gloucester Rangers we ask that all parents and players review
this document in order to better understand how the new rules of the game will
impact minor hockey starting this season.

Chicago Black Hawks Sign Michael Blunden
On May 24th, the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks signed former Gloucester Ranger
Michael Blunden to a 3 year deal. Coming off a gold medal win with the Team
Canada in the 2005 World Junior Hockey Championship, this is one former Ranger
who is clearly on his way up!
Former Gloucester Ranger Ryan Gulliver Lands

Ryan Gulliver GRMH alumni and a member of the Cumberland Jr "A" Grads has been
selected by Hockey Canada as one of the RBC Financial Group Junior 'A' Hockey
Canada Scholarship recipients and will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward

Message from GRMH Chair Jim Lloyd
I am very pleased and privileged to assume the position of President/Chair of
the Gloucester Rangers for the 2006-7 season. First of all, I would like to
extend my thanks to the outgoing Board Members who have served this association
so well over the past years. In addition, we welcome our new Board members and
thank them for their interest in our program. The Rangers are one of the
ODMHAs' most respected competitive hockey organizations and this years Board is
committed to meeting and exceeding these expectations. I am pleased to welcome
back EHK Sports as our Coach and Player Development partner and we look forward
to building upon the successes and positive results that they bring to the
Rangers.
As an Executive Committee, our four priorities for this season will be:
-
maximizing ice resources
-
improving the lines of communications between our players, our coaches and our
parent group
-
making "teaching" the single most important part of practices and off ice
sessions
-
significantly reduce off ice distractions that divert our energies away from our
children's hockey experience
Going forward, I would ask you to leverage our Gloucester Rangers website by
visiting often and spread the word on our behalf as we will use it as our
primary method of communicating with our membership.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the Player Orientation Meeting in August.
Until then, enjoy the off-season and rest up for another great season of
Rangers hockey.
Yours in Hockey,
Jim Lloyd
President/ Chair GRMH
